Hey everyone,
My name is Clayton and I created this blog as a helpful and fun way to keep people updated about my fundraising progress as I raise money to go to Ecuador!

This year I am raising money to take a high school semester in Ecuador with an amazing organization called Kroka. I learned about Kroka this past fall, and immediately knew that I wanted to go. I have been working hard ever since to fundraise the 12,000 dollars needed for the four month long adventure.
The Kroka semester offers a total immersion into the fascinating Ecuadorian culture. I will learn about the culture by living with and helping Ecuadorian families. I will visit the indigenous Shiwakotcha tribes by raft to be taught their crafts and traditions. I will be able to learn about the land by exploring the rainforest and studying the plants and animals. Our group will build a cataraft and paddle the Amazonian rivers. In the last few weeks of the trip, we will attempt to reach the summit of the cone shaped, glacier-covered peak of Cotopaxi – one of the highest active volcanoes in the world at 19,347 feet.  The semester has so many amazing experiences that I will earn 12 high school credits for the four months!  Kroka teachers and staff, will prepare, train and guide us throughout the journey: beginning and concluding at Kroka’s farm and headquarters in southern New Hampshire.

I have always wanted to explore other parts of the world and this opportunity has come at a perfect time. I am nearing the point in life when I will have to make big decisions about my future. This trip will give me a deeper understanding of our world, another culture and who I am.
It is my dream to go on this adventure and my whole year is now focused on the priorities of learning Spanish and raising money. I have hired myself out as a composer and for odd jobs and am selling my artwork and crafts. I'm also organizing fun events, researching grants, and doing anything and everything to reach the $12,000 goal. I have over $9,000 and have plans that will raise all but a couple thousand!
